Agents complete Smart Home Technology Course
Amy Stiefel-Fresh, Melissa Logue, Craig Shellenberger, Kari Shellenberger, Sarah Russ, Aimee Debenedictis, LaSonya Oney and John Bohne; independent sale associates affiliated with Coldwell Banker Resort Realty in Rehoboth Beach and Lewes, Delaware announced their completion of the Smart Home Technology Education Course offered by Coldwell Banker University. Developed by Coldwell Banker Real Estate, LLC and CEDIA, the global trade association for the home technology market, the course is offered exclusively to independent contractor agents affiliated with the Coldwell Banker® network. The curriculum provides an extensive look into the evolution of home technology, with a focus on how smart home products are changing the way we live in and interact with our homes.
This course equipped these professionals with the skills needed to advise clients interested in buying and selling smart homes or installing their first smart home products. As smart homes become increasingly sought after in Sussex County, agents recognize how essential it is to educate themselves to help clients make informed decisions about smart home technology.
“Smart home technology is entering the mainstream and quickly becoming a staple in homes across the country,” said Bruce Plummer, Broker and Chief Executive Officer. “The Smart Home Technology course will help agents sharpen their knowledge on the smart home and the products available, which in turn will allow them to better inform their clients when making smart home decisions.”
A Coldwell Banker survey of Americans found that more than half (54 percent) of homeowners surveyed would install smart home products if they were selling their home and knew that doing so would make it sell faster. In response to this, Coldwell Banker Real Estate earlier this year released an official smart home definition to educate real estate professionals, home buyers and home sellers in consort with CNET, the world’s largest and most trusted online source of consumer technology news and reviews.

National “Homes for Dogs” Adoption
On September 28th, 2019 Coldwell Banker Resort Realty and Grass Roots Rescue- Milton, DE, joined hundreds of Coldwell Banker offices and animal shelters around the country for the Coldwell Banker “Homes for Dogs” National Adoption Weekend.
The “Homes for Dogs” project was a great success thanks to the Grass Roots Rescue. Dogs were up for adoption right in front of the Lewes Office. “Pet Smart” donated adoption packets, and giveaways along with “Tail Bangers” donating bags and dog treats!
We would like to thank the following sponsors who donated to the event: Groomingdale’s Pet Salon, The Pet Station Salon, Seaside Pet Salon, Concord Pet, Pups of Lewes, The Station on Kings, Pro-Spect Inspection Services, AmeriSpec Inspection Services, Reliable Inspection Services, Tunnell & Raysor and Oak Construction.
“Coldwell Banker would like to thank the Lewes Community for participating in our “Homes for Dogs” project! We are lucky enough to help people in the Lewes community find new homes every day,” said Julie Gritton, Broker/Branch Manager. “Now, we extended that service to pets in need. It’s a win-win! Our 2nd year was bigger and a great success with all the local businesses supporting this great cause.”
The nationwide adoption weekend was part of the “Homes for Dogs Project,” a four-year campaign launched by Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC and Adopt-a-Pet.com, North America's largest non-profit pet adoption website.
In just the first year alone, the organizations helped to facilitate more than 20,000 adoptions. Coldwell Banker® launched “Old Dog New Dog,” in May 2018, a national advertising campaign which told the stories of a family and an older homeless dog who find each other thanks to the Coldwell Banker agent who is volunteering at a pet adoption event. “Old Dog, New Dog” ranked as the highest rated real estate ad of 2018, according to Ace Metrix, the leader in measuring the impact of television and digital advertising. The ad earned top marks for likeability and is the second highest rated real estate ad ever, right behind last year’s, “Somebody to Love,” also from the Coldwell Banker brand.
“At Coldwell Banker Resort Realty, we strive to support the community and give back in any way possible. Being community minded is a core value at the organization level and among the Realtors in all four branches. It was a pleasure to host this wonderful event” says Kathy Newcomb, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Consumer Engagement.
If your Organization would like to partner with us for a Cause or Event, please call Julie Gritton at 302-645-2881. Supporting our local community is a top priority!
