Things To Do
Delaware is rich with adventure, entertainment, relaxation, and history! We love our little state and want to tell the world about it!
Grottos Pizza on the Boardwalk. Reason: I have many memories with my family over the years going gown to the beach / boardwalk and grabbing Grottos Pizza after hanging out on the beach and/or playing games on the boardwalk.
Cape Henlopen State Park and Prime Hook. Reason: Melissa and I go for walks and explore these areas now and then and it's always a great time for us to have fun, see different animals / critters and enjoy nature here in Delaware.
Fishing. Reason: Just because :) And this is a perfect place to enjoy fishing for a good majority of the year. Obviously the ocean is right at our fingertips, but there's plenty of freshwater fishing to enjoy as well.
My husband Pete and I are avid fishers! We have lived in Milton for 15 years and love to be outdoors. We enjoy fishing the Broadkill River, which can be entered thru the ramp in Milton, and goes all the way to the Lewes Canal. Good fishing can also be found at the Indian River Inlet, Nanticoke River, Massey's Ditch, Lewes Canal, and Broadkill and Slaughter beaches. Different times of the year provide for different species of fish. Pete recently caught a Striped Bass in the Indian River!
Hard to choose a favorite restaurant. There are so many great spots depending on your mood and the weather. Station on Kings, Surf Bagel, Greenman and Henlopen Oyster House are a few. When my son comes to visit, we have Tyler’s Food Tour. You never know where you’ll end up!
My favorite thing is riding the bike trail from Lewes to Rehoboth, have breakfast or lunch, shop, then ride back to Lewes.
My favorite store is Christmas Tree Hill. I have been going there for years and I know the owner Jan who is so nice. Even if you don’t buy anything it is a great place to go to just wander around and it is so relaxing with all the wonderful candle scents. It is like aromatherapy for me. They have a beautiful assortment of not only Christmas items but all holidays included. All year round you can shop there for a fantastic assortment of gifts.
In the off season I love to sit and watch the ocean early in the morning. Beautiful sunrises bringing a feeling that all is right in the world before beginning a hectic day. Dolphin watching is a must!
For a splurge, Heirloom has some of the best food I've ever had, and they use local ingredients in their dishes as much as possible. Casual dining, I really like Agave, but would recommend getting there about 15 minutes before lunch to avoid a huge wait.
Shorebreak is easily my favorite store. They carry brands that you don't always find everywhere, and have a private label, so there is a lot of selection despite the size of the store.
Exploring Cape Henlopen State Park because while the trails may always be the same, the things you see won't be
